John qualified originally as an Accountant and is a Bachelor of Commerce degree holder from the University of Auckland. He is also a Licenced Real Estate agent and has worked in a range of businesses including Chartered Accountancy, food manufacturing, finance broking and merchant banking both in New Zealand and overseas. John has spoken at seminars on business sales and valuations and has had an article on business sales,acquisitions and valuations published in the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants Journal,a copy of which is included on this website under the heading "useful articles" |

In July 1987, he incorporated a company originally called Broadway Business Sales Ltd and in 2003, this company changed its name to Business Sales Ltd. Since 1987, John has specialised in assisting clients to buy, sell, find equity partners for and value a wide variety of businesses. He also structures and arranges debt and equity finance in relation to business sales and acquisitions. In October 2008,John formed a new company Mediation & Arbitration Limited which provides Dispute Resolution assistance to clients including Mediation,Arbitration,Expert Determination and general negotiating services. These services are aimed at helping clients to avoid the need to use litigation as a method of deciding disputes where there are ONLY winners and losers,unlike mediation which is a process able to achieve win win outcomes and actually resolve disputes. Given both John's long history of successfully selling businesses(including the preparation of complex sale and purchase agreements) & his Chartered Accounting experience in commerce,John is ideally placed to assist parties who have any dispute that relates to a business or franchise. |

John has been involved in community matters whilst he was a member of the Newmarket Rotary Club, where he was a Director of several committees at both Club and District level over a period of 11 years. |

He has been involved in coaching children's sport and his other interests, apart from his family, include, golf, skiing, fishing, sailing and reading. |
